This weekend I went to the Libertarian Party of Georgia 2024 Convention in Conyers. This is my second “Presidential year” convention, the first convention I attended being back in 2020. I’ll be coming out soon with my own personal report on the weekend, but for now on to the weekly basics: Meetings of the big three city councils in Fayette, as well as the county planning commission!
Tuesday
Fayetteville City Council Work Session - 9am
Water and Sewer Rate Study
Travis Alleyway Project Cost Update
Amendments to the Future Land Use map
Amendments to the 2022 Comprehensive Plan
Amendments to the Alcohol Ordinance
It seems that some recent amendments didn’t make it to the public online repository at Municode, so it’s being proposed that the ordinance be officially re-adopted as a whole, to remedy that.
On top of that, there’s some question about whether the ordinance would allow for a “speakeasy” at Trilith. Hey, I’m all for a good speakeasy! But wouldn’t a “real” speakeasy exist in a back room that the law doesn’t officially know about?
Smoke Free Ordinance
Amendments to the Planning and Zoning Commission Bylaws
National Society Daughters of the American Revolution America 250 Maker
Statewide Mutual Aid and Assistance Agreement Renewal
Thursday
PTC City Council - 6:30pm
New President/CEO of the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce
New Website Design
Law Enforcement Officer of the Year and Firefighter of the Year
Donation Acceptance for Portable Baseball Mounds
HOBNOB Tavern
Annual Zoning Map and Zoning Ordinance Adoption
Water Efficiency Code Update
Tyrone Town Council - 7pm
Updated Statewide Mutual Aid Agreement with GEMA
Resolution naming Isaac Godfrey as Prosecuting Attorney for Tyrone Municipal Court
Purchase of four book shelving units for $6,178.25
That’s over $1500 per unit. Maybe it’s just me, but that’s strikes me as some really, really expensive bookshelves.
Audited Financial Report for Fiscal Year Ending June 30, 2023
Plan approval of the Space Force flagpole addition at Veteran’s Park
Fire Impact Fee Update CIE & STWP transmittal resolution to the GA Department of Community Affairs
This seems like a sensible place again to put a reminder that Peachtree City and Fayetteville have municipal fire services, and don’t rely on the county fire service, and so they pay a lower total property tax rate. Just saying.
Fayette Planning Commission - 7pm

Petition to rezone 5 acres from R-70 to C-H for a commercial property
Petition to rezone 4.03 acres from A-R to C-C for a fuel station, convenience store, and retail
